Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 8, 2009
Declining pensions, rising health care costs, market volatility, and longevity. What forces are impacting retirement security and how? The new white paper “Retirement Security in the 21st Century: Considerations and Risks in Building the Infrastructure” takes a comprehensive view of the retirement landscape. The paper discusses trends affecting retirement security and is a resource for those helping individuals and families deal with the complex issues of retirement.
Author Jennifer Warren says, “The white paper frames the issues of retirement security differently than what is available today. While there are many very good resources, sometimes the most relevant and succinct information and analysis is hard to find in one place. Having studied this issue for over eighteen years, I’ve edited what I thought was the best, up-to-date material in a digestible format.”
The paper seeks to provide information, analysis, and context to inform decisions, one mission of the Retirement Security Institute. A companion 55-slide presentation accompanies the paper to help identify information and concepts quickly for a user-friendly guide to material. Some of the subjects covered in the white paper include:
• Retirement security risks
• Demographic overview of the retiree and boomer population
• New concepts for planning or discussions of retirement security
• Health care trends, particularly Medicare
• Retirement income and portfolio considerations
• Economic climate including how globalization impacts retirement security
• Financial markets discussion focused on retirement issues
• Trends in corporate and state and local pensions
• Government programs to retirees
• Future directions
While geared to educate professionals serving the retirement market, the paper offers perspective for anyone working in the retirement market, including the retiree. Sources of information are well-documented for further research by any reader.
The paper is available at www.retirementsecurityinstitute.com. A sampling of six slides is available as well.
